1970年获美国Vanderbilt University理学博士。 曾任美国国立卫生研究院NIHWarren Grant Magnuson临床中心输血医学部传染性疾病处输血传播病毒实验室研究分部主任以及临床检验室主任。 Warren Grant Magnuson临床中心实验动物委员会主席。 美国乔治城大学医学院微生物学系副教授。 美国FDA药品与生物制品管理局血液安全处官员以及其杂交瘤委员会成员。 胜任SciencePNASJ ImmunoBloodHepatology等多个国际学术刊物审稿人。 2005年受聘为厦门大学全职特聘教授。  科研专注于传染病病原之发现与鉴定,肝炎病毒疫苗发展研究,与临床前期之评估;专长于以血清学与分子生物学为技术基础研发诊断方法,检验试剂制备,及临床研究,验证设计,报批考核与评估。 一贯致力于中国高科技医学与美国和国际的高层的接触和发展,并热心于指导众多在美国进修深造的学者,其中许多已成为国际上该病毒领域内的活跃科学家,和国家医药管理部门的官员。 经验于临床检验中心的建设,运作,管理,及GMP要求。 现任疫苗生产业顾问集:产,学,研,管,用,经历达成阅历五项生物科技支柱领域之心愿。

Biography

James Wai Kuo Shih is a Senior Advisor at the Xiamen Innovax Biotech for the past 3 years and a Professor Emeritus of Microbiology of the School of Public Health, Xiamen University. Prior to being in Xiamen, he served as Senior Principle Investigator and Supervisor of the Transfusion Transmitted Virus Lab at the Magnuson Clinical Center of National Institute of Health, Bethesda, USA for more than 25 years.  His earlier career included academia as Associate Professor at the Georgetown University, Washington D.C. and regulator as Supervisory Microbiologist at the Hepatitis Branch, Blood and Blood Products Division, CBER, US FDA.  Most of his scientific interest is associated with the development and the understanding of the human hepatitis viruses and their prevention.  He has extensive experience in development and clinical evaluation of serological and molecular diagnostics in infectious diseases.   He participated and managed active research programs in the development and evaluation of vaccines against hepatitis B and hepatitis C.   He has broad knowledge and experience with the blood safety issues.  He received his Ph. D. in Microbiology from Vanderbilt University, TN, USA in 1970.
