Dr. Jerome H. Kim is currently the Director General of the International Vaccine Institute.

He retired from the US Army in 2015 where he led the RV144 HIV vaccine trial and the post-trial search for immunologic and virologic correlates of risk. This work was recognized by the Maher Award for Research Excellence from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the Department of the Army Research and Development Achievement Award for Technical Excellence. Dr. Kim’s research interests include HIV molecular epidemiology, host genetics, and HIV vaccine development . He has authored over 200 publications and received the John Maher Award for Research Excellence from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 2013. In 2014 he was recognized as one of the 50 most influential people in vaccines. Dr. Kim graduated with High Honors in History and Highest Honors in Biology from the University of Hawaii and received his MD degree from the Yale University School of Medicine. He is an adjunct Professor of Medicine at USUHS and the Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Health. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
